When systems are revised it would be useful if a user could import new files from designers and see them directly on top of existing systems. This would allow a user to be able to visually see and measure changes. Updated files can be imported but it is difficult to distinguish between the two models. Having the imports be groups as a reference that could easily be deleted once the changes are made would be useful. Additionally having another color for reference piping where reference piping could be hidden with one button click would improve workflow.
The workaround that my company does for this, "PCF check", is to copy in a new PCF. Shift vertically by ~1 inch and then use the show options to display the temperature plot. Typically, we adjust the model to match the new PCF. Then delete the new PCF.'s segments.
You can also import the AutoPIPE model PCF into Navisworks which I have used less frequently.
